George N. Stewart
Mr. Stewart is a Greensburg native who received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1980 in Mineral Economics with emphasis in Petroleum Engineering Technology from the Pennsylvania State University, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University in 1983 where he was a member of the law review, serving as associate editor. Mr. Stewart also published a case note and comment for the law review in 1983.
Mr. Stewart is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Northern and Southern District Courts for West Virginia. His practice is devoted entirely to civil litigation with concentration in the areas of commercial litigation including oil and gas litigation, construction defect, trucking and transportation litigation, professional and institutional liability, and errors and omissions.
Mr. Stewart is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Westmoreland County Bar Associations. He was previously elected to membership in the Allegheny County Academy of Trial Lawyers, is a current member of the Westmoreland County Academy of Trial Lawyers and is also a long-time member of the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA). He is a frequent lecturer on a multitude of litigation and insurance topics, to various claims associations and the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. Since 2009, Mr. Stewart has been recognized as a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer” by the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Publication; a peer review designation limited to 5% of the practicing bar. He is recognized for his expertise in the civil litigation defense practice area. Mr. Stewart is also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation only trial lawyer honorary society representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and Fellows are selected based upon effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Stewart is active with a number of philanthropic groups and non-profit organizations including immediate past term on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greensburg. He served as the chair of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaigns in 2002-03. Mr. Stewart currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Clan Donald Educational and Charitable Trust and plays in the Seton Hill University Bagpipe Band. He has also served as volunteer coach of his local school district’s high school tennis team.
