Daniel E. Krauth

Dan Krauth is a trial attorney. His 30 years of practice have focused on the areas of oil and gas litigation, product liability defense, mass tort litigation, commercial litigation, construction litigation, and insurance defense.  He served as the firm’s managing partner from 2013 – 2021.

Dan has represented Fortune 500 companies, as well as smaller Western Pennsylvania businesses. He has tried dozens of cases to verdict throughout all counties in Western Pennsylvania, obtaining defense verdicts in an overwhelming majority of the trials.

As the Marcellus Shale play erupted in Pennsylvania in the last two decades, Mr. Krauth has litigated a myriad of cases within this general area, including leasing and commercial disputes, personal injury disputes, as well as assisted on eminent domain proceedings.

Dan has served on the board of several philanthropic endeavors, including the Western Pennsylvania Diversity Initiative and the Career Literacy for African American Youth, and he has served as a mentor to diverse high school students in Pittsburgh Schools, and through the Fresh Start Program at Penn State.  Mr. Krauth currently serves as the Chair of IADC’s Environmental and Energy Committee.

Significant Matters

  1. Obtained land for a regional natural gas production firm through eminent domain proceedings in Allegheny, Washington and Greene counties.
  2. Brokered a settlement for a client in a large construction lawsuit, wherein all parties (including the Plaintiff) agreed to make repairs to the building in question due to pyrite expansion issues – all parties continued to do business with each other after the settlement.
  3. Tried numerous cases to defense verdicts for a regional department store chain, including “trip and fall” claims, falling merchandise claims and false imprisonment claims.
  4. Took a case for a client after they had lost summary judgment and had the summary judgment overturned by the Commonwealth Court in a mandamus action.
  5. Routinely have clients dismissed by summary judgment in toxic tort litigation in Allegheny County.
